PHP Advanced for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickPro Guide-->Scripts
Every script in the text is available here to be downloaded. Although these scripts are numbered as they are in the book, they do include any updates and changes as warranted by errors which were found after publication. Thus, if you are having problems with a particular script, download the most current version here or check the errata section. If you find a problem with one of the scripts here, please contact me with the details.
Also, it should be noted that the scripts as referenced in the book (e.g. http://www.DMCinsights.com/php/hello.php) are not available for execution through this Web site.
I have included the scripts for this book in two ways: in numbered format or in named format. For example, Script 2.1 in the book is a file called 'HtmlTemplate.class'. If you download the standard version of the scripts, you'll get files called 'script_02_01.class' but, in that file, you'll see a comment in the form of '# HtmlTemplate.class', indicating what the file is called. If you download the named version of the scripts, you'll get files called 'HtmlTemplate.class but, in that file, you'll see a comment in the form of '# Script 2.1'. If a multiple scripts in a chapter have the same name, I've created folders for subsequent versions. I hope you appreciate this layout.
These scripts have been formatted with line breaks that will work on most systems running most text editors. If you have difficulty opening a script, try:
- adjusting the way your text editor treats text files
- using a different text editor, if possible
- posting a message to the online forum, asking for help
- contacting me and I will try to assist

Ruby: Visual QuickStart Guide Complete!
I'm very happy to announce that I've completed my Ruby: Visual QuickStart Guide. The book should be available in about three weeks or so (around early November 2008). The book turned out well, I think, and it should hopefully be a nice addition to the relatively small catalog of Ruby books that are available. In particular, I think that the Ruby on Rails chapter is really nice. I was able to develop a real-world example that demonstrates many aspects of the Rails framework. It also covers Rails 2.1, which has some significant changes from the 1.x version of Rails. More news about this book to come in future newsletters and on this site!(October 7, 2008)
Newsletter #15 Released
Newsletter #15 went out in early August but I've been remiss in posting this update about it. It's relatively short, with most of the discussion on the business side of creating your own business. You can read it online at http://dmcinsights.com/newsletter.php. The next newsletter should go out in a few days.(September 2, 2008)
